It wasn’t long ago that the idea of designing her own range of accessible clothing was just a dream for Carol Taylor, let alone having her designs showcased in front of a crowd of thousands. Carol’s dream came true when she was selected to feature her accessible fashion designs as part of the MercedesBenz Fashion Festival Brisbane, with her work receiving interest from as far as Belgium, New York and Egypt. “I feel so honoured and grateful to be given this opportunity,” the Gold Coastbased member said. “While it was an incredible experience, it wasn’t without its stressful moments – most other designers had one year to create their collection; I had 12 weeks! “That was on top of running my own legal practice and being both a wife and a mum with a 12-year-old son. “After a dressmaker quit just nine days from the big day, I had to put an urgent SOS out on social media. “Some wonderful sewing angels came to my rescue and by 2am the morning of the show, we were finally ready to go.” Carol used the $10,000 in funding from winning the Access Arts Achievement Award earlier this year to help bring her designs to life.
